CDC Homes President and CEO speaks at International Women’s Day celebration in Dubai

CDC Homes President and CEO Melesa “Elsie” Chua was among the featured speakers at the International Women’s Day celebration held March 7 at the Novotel Hotel Al Barsha in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event, organized by the Dubai-based nonprofit organization Filipino Excellence in the Middle East (FEME), has the theme “Empowering Filipino Women in the Middle East”.

During her talk, Ms Chua shared her journey as an entrepreneur while juggling the roles of wife and mother. She also talked about the risks and rewards of establishing the Philippines’ leading dinnerware brand Melawares and how she broke ground in the male-dominated industry of building and construction.

The other speakers in the program include Singapore-based human resource and development executive Ms Mel Rose Angeles, image and style consultant Agnes Aqunio-Biggs and UAE DNA editor-in-chief Cristina Magallon.

Entrepreneurship and financial freedom are Mrs Chua’s advocacy and the usual topic of her talks when reaching out to Filipino communities overseas. Since the early 1990s, she have regularly journeyed to the Middle East to inspire our workers abroad, especially women OFWS.
